CHAPTER-7

UNDERSTANDING THE REAL PROBLEM

If the real problem was never stated, it is impossible to understood it correctly. When working with requirements it is important to focus on ideas rather than solutions. Abstraction can help us to get the real problem.

ABSTRACTION:

It is simply a business process. Is the idea, not the implementation.  A business process is set of activities no matter how you implement it. It does not matter whether the process (now or in the future) is done by a person, computer, robot, mechanical device or anything else.

THE ESSENCE:

We refer to as the essence of the business above the horizontal line that divides the ‘how’ and the ‘what’. These views show the what-now and the future-what quadrants. The reason for spending time above the line is to discover the real problem and avoid what happens in many organizations where people waste their entire 60 minutes building solutions to the wrong problems.

SOLVING THE RIGHT PROBLEM:

Often happens when a team developed good feature but the users never put it to use or use if for short time? Why does this happen? As it does not solve the correct problem.

The real problem to solve is real problem and it is not technological solution. Project teams often solve the wrong problem at the beginning of the project by thinking about the product to be built and the technology they will use, rather than the work to be improved. The project teams see only the proposed product and forget about the real problem to solve.

MOVING INTO THE FUTURE:

After understanding the current essence, it is time to move on to what the business has to be. The future business will not be the same as the previous business- a project is meant to improve the work, and here is where it has to be done.

Still, moving into the future is not just a matter of thinking, it requires innovative approaches on the part of the business analyst, as well as be open to new ideas on the part of the business stakeholders.

The future work is not just a re-doing of the current work. The future work is not about simply all existing manual processes or mechanically re-implementing existing computer systems. Nor is the future work the same as the current work with a few extra features. The project has to result in some important step forward for the business.

PERSONAS:

A persona is an imaginary personality that can represent your stakeholders. As the product that will be used by more than a dozen different people, it is impossible to know all the real users. But we can know one, the persona.

With implementing a persona, it is easier for business analysts and innovators to think about their customer’s needs. Having a persona also prevents stakeholders from defining the user as themselves. The way to build a successful product is not to gather requirements that give out something for everyone, but rather to excite the actual users.

  1. Pawandeep Kaur:
I want to talk more about the personas. it was first introduced by Alan Cooper, defines an archetypal user of a system, an example of the kind of person who would interact with it. The idea is that if you want to design effective software, then it needs to be designed for a specific person. These are the functional characters which you create based on your research in order to represent the different user types that might use your service, product, site or brand in a similar way. Its advantage is that creating personas will help you to understand your user's need, experience, behaviors and goals. overall, creating persona is a great thing for your project that can make it effective and help you out.

  2. I want to talk about how be become innovative with three techniques which help individual to think creative and also produce a positive result in work. the three things namely pleasure(we normally see in the society that people prefer to spend money for their pleasure and it is important to consider their pleasant first and avoid the unpleasant things) ,prestige(people also like to pay for their prestige. For example, individual buy iPhone 11 to show their class in front of others) and convenience(pay for convenience means providing services according individual convenience rather then giving them alternative advice or solution. .

  3. I want to talk about the Brown Cow model as it gives the four different views of the work to the business analyst and this information helps the business analyst in the investigation on the different stages. These four stages are Now what which tells about the essential business use cases, Future what which is enhanced essential business use cases , third one is How now gives the model of the current situation of the business use case and the last one is How future which tells about the product used case scenarios.
