Chapter-6
Scenarios
Scenarios: According to the book, the proper
meaning of the Scenarios is giving the outline of the project or the steps that
should be followed in the sequential order to complete the requirements. It is
the neutral medium and the simpler way to understand the requirements of the stakeholders.
In this ‘plot’
means that the target or the aim should be divided into the different series or
the steps for the success of the project. It also helps the user to explain the
project in the better way and here each chunk or the step is called business use
case which helps the user in the problems and success of the project. We can
take the different examples such as: passing airline check-in, making of pasta
etc.
Diagramming
the Scenario: This
type of the scenarios is required by the analysts or the stakeholders for the explanation
of the functions performed by the business use case. It basically depends how your stakeholders
wants your idea in text or the diagram form. There are different ways by which
diagrams can be made but from them the UML(United Modeling Language) is the popular
one. Continuing with the example of airline check-in, here the diagram view of
the process.
Alternatives:
This phase arises
when the user have another choice of user action. The choices may be
intentionally produced by the user or given by the business. These are made
just to make the business use case more attractive and easier to understand for
the participant or the stakeholders. For example: online shopping, we place our
selected items in the shopping cart to get more options or just click on the
buy button.
Misuse
Cases and Negative Scenarios: In the misuse situations, the result is harmful and important
to be noticed because the user may try to be abusing or theft the data or work
of someone. Common example is stolen the bank information of customers and information
from the social media. In order to reduce this risks user should examine all
the steps time to time to ask if someone is opposing the results or misusing that
particular action.
Scenario
Template: User use the business use case according to the stakeholders
or the business but for the more attraction and information making assignment
is also good idea. As I said earlier, it is the good compromise between information
and overly official approach. The form of template is:
1.Business Event Name
2.Business Use Case Name and Number
3.Trigger
4.Preconditions
5.Interested Stakeholders
6.Active Stakeholders
7.Normal Case Steps
8.Alternatives
9.Expectations
10.Outcomes
A business scenario is an outline of a set of circumstances that could occur within a business setting. A scenario is based on a combination of events and factors that compose the current situation of the business, then argumented with some projections of possible events that could occur in the future. The purpose of the business scenario is to determine what is most likely to come about if certain events do occur in the future, allowing the company to take steps to reduce negative consequences. The scenario may trigger ideas that ultimately help the company to grow. With the help of scenario, company make the most of available opportunities while also reducing the situations those would weak the business and make failure it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about misuse cases, it is type of negative form of use case and it that focus on the exceptions and threats caused by hostile agents to a system.Creating misuse cases places an early emphasis on security features that business processes and systems should consider. Often, the creation of misuse cases will lead to the creation of new use cases as countermeasures to the malicious act.For example, steal the car.
ReplyDeletePawandeep Kaur:
ReplyDeletein Scenario The essence of the business is not a solution but the real problem without technology. A typical template may include: Business Event, BUC Name and Number , Trigger, Preconditions, Interested, Stakeholders Active,Stakeholders Normal Case, Alternative, and Exception Steps, Outcome. THE ESSENCE OF A BUSINESS BY PETER DRUCKER "the essence of a business is outside itself". the essence is not better solution but You find the real business problem when you eliminate all the technological camouflage that normally makes up a description of some work. Also, for the moment, consider only the normal case scenario. The normal case is when everything works perfectly.
