Chapter -12 Fit Criteria and Rationale

Fit Criteria:

Fit Criteria is used for functional requirements. A functional requirement is something that the product must be done action it must take. The fit criterion specifies how you will know that the product has successfully carried out that action. It quantifies the behavior, the performance or some other quality of the requirement.

Formality Guide:

Let’s take example of the stories, as when we are listening to the stories, we must pay particularly attention to the reason behind the story as it is same as with the rationale as it makes the important contribution in the ending of the product.
1.Rabbit Project: In the rabbit project they use the blog or the wiki to find the non-functional requirements. As it is suggest deriving the appropriate fit criterion, confirming with the stakeholders and note the test case using that fit criterion.

2.Horse Project: As we know horse projects have the different number of the stakeholders who have different requirements regarding the product, and it is difficult for the user to note the requirements. So, the rationale and a fit criterion are used to collect the requirements for better understanding.

3.Elephant Project: For the elephant projects using rationale and fit criterion is important because sometimes there is need to show the requirements to the other department as well as the other party. So, having specific requirements will helps to clear the deliverable and requirements of the project.

Scale of Measurement:

According to the book, it is said that all the requirements can be measured just need the correct tool for measurement. As the scale of the measurements exist for all the quantities. In other words, we can say that each and everything is measurable. For the usability requirement, you can measure the time needed to learn the product, or the time taken before achieving a level of competence. In other words, we can say that fit criteria are the measurable tool for the requirements.

Fit Criteria for Non-Functional Requirements:

A non-functional requirement is a quality that the product must have that helps to attract customers. The quality can be anything like appearance, usability and performance. Whereas the fit Criteria is the measure of the quality. So, in other words we can say that it is scale of measure for the requirements. Fit criteria is the measure of the sales of the product bought by the people. You can measure the users or the customers liking by the surveying of the product before and after the product is introduced in the market.
Look and Feel Requirements:

It is the first type of the non-functional requirement and it specifies the appearance, style and mood of the product, and the impression the user gets when using the product. The rationale is used for the requirement is either attached to the branding standard or a desire to enhance customers recognition. First look for the branding standard as the communications department is responsible for the branding standards and fit criteria specifies the target standard and state who or what is to certify the product’s compliance. Let’s take an example:

Comments

  1. Pawandeep Kaur: According to my research fit means a solution completely satisfies or matches the requirement. The solution does exactly what the requirement says it must do or has the property the requirement says it must have. The measurement of the requirement is its fit criterion. It quantifies the behavior, the performance, or some other quality of the requirement. And In simple words the rational means explanation of the logical reasons or principles employed in consciously arriving at a decision or estimate. And its main aim is to document the questions like why a particular choice was made? and how the basis of its dictionary Term of the Day Articles Subjects?

  2. I want to talk about look and feel requirements. These requirements define that the intended spirit, the mood or the style of the product's appearance. These requirements specify the intention of the appearance and they do not provide a detailed design of an interface. However, by determining the rationale and its measurable aspects then you can always find a suitable fit criterion. Moreover, fit criteria measures the performance and quality of a product.

  3. I want to talk about the fit criteria for non functional. we describe this term by saying that it uses to measure the quality which non functional produce within their products like usability, performance etc. Because it is very hard to quantify the non functional requirements and sometime might be several requirements written as one, or it might be incomplete, ill considered, irrational, haphazard, or just plain not a requirement. Either you can quantify it or you delete it.If you can't measure a requirement, it is not really a requirement.on that moment, fit criteria help to solve the problems of measurement.
