Blog 1  Chapter 1:- Introduction
In chapter 1 we read about the introduction like what and who is business analysts, their knowledge area, different tasks and techniques and underlying competencies.
What is Business Analysis: Business analysis is a discipline of identifying various business needs and finding solutions for different business problems. In simple words, it is a set of tasks and techniques that deliver value to stakeholders. Business analysis may be performed within the boundaries of the project. There can be a various business problem but the solutions often include software system development component, also consist of process improvement, organizational change and policy development. The business analysis is performed on a variety of initiatives within an enterprise. Initiatives may be strategic, tactical or operational. Business analysis also focusing on discovery over reporting, spotlighting data quality issues and designing engaging visual analytics during the projects.(Pawandeep Kaur)

Who is a business analyst: A business analyst is someone who has understanding about business change needs, assessing the business change impact of those changes, capturing, analyzing and documenting requirements and supporting conversation and delivery of requirements with applicable stakeholders? There are some activities which business analysts performs:
·       Investigates issues and solutions of an organisation
·       Responsible for figuring out needs of an organisation
·       Planning new techniques to increase efficiency and finances
·       Facilitator and help the conversation between the company’s departments (Gagandeep Kaur)

Knowledge Area: There are six knowledge areas in BABOK guide which represent areas of specific business analysis expertise that encompass several tasks.
v  Business analysis planning and monitoring: In this area business analysts perform different tasks to organize and coordinate the efforts of business analysts and stakeholders. These tasks provide some output which used as a key input for other tasks.
v  Elicitation and Collaboration: Well, elicitation is a core competency of business analysts. Both the elicitation and collaboration knowledge areas focus on the best practice that a business analyst can leverage to bring forth information from stake holders. It is very important knowledge area for any CBAP training. v  Requirements life cycle management: this task describes how business analysts give their performance in order to manage and maintain requirements and how they design information from inception to retirements.
v  Strategy analysis:  This knowledge area give explanation that how business analysis collaborates with stakeholders in order to identify a need of strategic or tactical importance (the business need) and align the resulting strategy for the change with higher- and lower-level strategies.
v  Requirements analysis and design definition: It provides knowledge of structure and organized requirements discovered during elicitation activities and design, validate and verify information, identify solution options and estimate potential value for each solution option.
v  Solution Evaluation: For business analysis it described as the assessment of existing or potential solutions before or after a business. It recommends removal of barriers or constraints that prevent the full realization of the value.(Pawandeep Kaur)

 Underlying competencies:
Purpose= The underlying competencies play a great role in life of business analysts because these skills provide number of advantages to BA as it make thinking creative to generate new ideas which help further to take decision on various projects as well as make them able to identify the problem nature in different situation and solve it without any conflicts between stakeholders and their desired goals.
Definition= It offers different types of skills namely skills related to knowledge about field, behavior, personal qualities (communication skills). The industry knowledge makes person aware a about resources and methodologies. On other hand, behavior characteristics comes with honesty regarding employee abilities and ability to take responsibility about worker failure and good communication help to express ideas in proper way as everyone understand the concepts.
Effectiveness measures=it become possible with proper planning and monitoring while working on various tasks. The proper guidelines and instruction on projects and conduct activities which produced result on that state it able to see whether person is demonstrate skills in competencies or not.  Task: Task is the work which should be done by the business analyst. These tasks may be formal or informal. A business analyst must perform the different tasks at same time, so that’s why tasks are grouped into different knowledge areas. Business analyst can perform any task at any time if the order of the result of the task is not given.
Format for following the task:
·       Purpose: This section gives the little ideas to the analyst to perform the task.
·       Description: Gives the full detail of the task.
·       Inputs: What material or the information should use to get the enough output.
·         Elements: Guideline for the users how to perform the task.
·       Techniques: What technologies should use to preform this task.
·       Stakeholders: which individual is interested in this task and how he is going to affect this.
·       Output: Gives the result and feedback of the preformed task. (Ishika)

  1. As My team member stated the role of underlying competencies in business. It includes different type of features such as analytical thinking and problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, business knowledge and behavioral characteristics is also an important feature comes under BA competencies. According to me, i defined underlying competencies as an individual's capability to do a job. This term has a main focus not only on what person can do but also what person can learn from their job and work experience. It includes motivation, self-knowledge and willingness to demonstrate effective performance. For overall idea, this term is way of getting knowledge about the behavior of workers or employers, we can find a solution of different problems and improvement in communication skills by doing conversation with each other during projects is a part of underlying competency as well.

  2. One of my team member defined what is business analysis. Business analysis means it is the task or exercise figuring out and clarifying a issue or problem within a organization, then working with the quite a number stakeholders to define and put in force an acceptable solution. It helps to improvements potentials and identify the need for change.

  3. As my one of team member describe the role of Business analysts ans its work come under organization to evaluate current systems and develop strategic plans. A key aspect of the business analyst role is communicating plans between internal departments and external stakeholders. it have to deal IT processes but they are not in involve in programming codes.
